When it finally sunk in that I would be running Boston and not the National Marathon I realized that I had to adjust my training a bit.
I was previously fusing a training plan my friend Mike provided to me and the plan Runner’s World’s Smart Coach tool outlined for me. Now, I’m mostly following the online FitCorp Boston Marathon training program (which my City Sports shoe manager found for me).
My Saturday morning running group includes several people training for the National Marathon and I’ve attempted to piggyback on their training regimen. Unfortunately, they will be beginning their taper after next week so my upcoming long runs will be a little lonely.
Race-wise I will be running the National half marathon and the Cherry Blossom 10-miler. After finishing the half, I will be joining the DC Striders as a race station volunteer and to cheer on the full marathoners. I’m really looking forward to both of these events.
Until next time!
