In-store Inspiration

My path to the corporate office was not your typical resume – interview – you’re hired experience.   I started my City Sports career over four years ago at the Commonwealth Avenue location as a sales associate.   In 2009 I was invited to be part of a photo shoot for new the CS product where I met Chrissy Durden, CS by City Sports Head of Design.  As the CS line began to grow, so did my involvement.  In 2010 Chrissy hired me on as a design intern and we have been improving the line ever since.

Being a sales associate really helped give me insight into what a successful product was and what we needed to do to grow the brand. This is why I remain in the stores part time.  Constantly interacting with customers and getting feedback from them taught me that athletes simply expect their clothing to perform.  As good as something may look, if it doesn’t fit and doesn’t meet expectations then it may as well not be on the floor. Taking that into consideration, we make sure that all of our products are tested and fit by our professional fit technician Jodi who has really helped overhaul the line.  We also make sure to source new performance fabrics that meet the needs of each specific garment, from moisture wicking to UV protection so that customers get a product they love and trust.

Another benefit of working in the store was seeing how people react to new colors and new designs. It became very clear to me that there is a wide spectrum of clientele in our stores, and that they range from the neon and bright lovers, to the basic and black wearer. We use this information to create our palettes so that we can offer a wide variety of fun and exciting colors and textures in our line, but also make sure that the more subdued clothing is still available.  We are really excited about the new HiViz (high-visibility) line showcased our bright new fabrics, so check it out!

Thanks for reading and let me know what you think of the line!
