Despite temperatures soaring over 90 degrees, 32 people attended our CrossFit on the Greenway session last night. Michael Cahill from Reebok CrossFit Back Bay was onsite to provide a mindful workout comprised largely of static holds to target core strengthening. We started with a warm-up to prepare the body for deeper work and acclimate to the heat index; this included a light jog, walking lunges, walking high kicks and a short sprint. Michael then rounded us up to demo 3 static postures: air squat, plank and hollow rock. Next came the work… We completed a tabata workout consisting of static air squats [(20 seconds on, 10 seconds rest) x5], held planks [(20 seconds on, 10 seconds rest) x5], and static hollow rocks [(20 seconds on, 10 seconds rest) x5]. And since no outdoor CrossFit session is complete without a visit from our dear friend the burpee, we wrapped up with 50 repetitions just for good measure.
Thank you to everyone who came out last night! We have another Crossfit this Wednesday at 6PM! RSVP HERE!
